WSA Sprint & Mid-Distance World Championship 2022

The city of Östersund is delighted to host the WSA/IFSS World Sprint & Mid-Distance Championships for Norwegian Registered Breeds from March 10-12, 2022.

Dear Mushers,

Yesterday the registration of the World Cup of the WSA in Ostersund (sweden) came online.

Since the purebred teams in Asarna (IFSS) World Cup are not valued (but are allowed to participate between the open teams), it is also possible for the IFSS members to send teams to the WSA.

This is due to the collaboration between the IFSS and WSA. This collaboration ensures that it is clearer who the World Champion is per category.

To enter the WSA championship via the IFSS, you must be a member of the SSC-NL.

You must apply for a WSA WDL number. This can be done online and the link can be found on the deregistration in the attachment.

You must also register yourself (after approval of the board of the SSC-NL) via

On that page you can indicate whether you want to go via the DSO (WSA) or SSC-NL (IFSS) (enter the SSC-NL at IFSS member association)

If you have registered definitively, please notify the board via:

It is therefore only possible to go if you are a member of the SSC-NL and after approval of the board of the SSC-NL

There are currently no limits on teams that can enter, but that will depend on the total number of entries coming in to the WSA.

Performances of recent years in snow competitions will also be looked at.

Of course, current (asp) members take precedence over new members. If you want to go, register as soon as possible, but no later than 9 January. Then we can also inform the teams that can register afterwards.

If you are not yet a member and would like to go, please send an email to:

After registration and payment of the invoice you will receive a membership number.

We will also keep you informed of the latest developments regarding the WSA World Cup via the website and socials.

If there are any further questions, we would of course be happy to hear from you.

All mushers should read the WSA racing regulations for the latest rule update/change.

In light of the stricter Covid-19 rules around the world, we would like to reassure mushers that IFSS, WSA and Polardistans are taking the pandemic seriously and are working hard to make the 2022 World Snow Championships take place in Sweden within a safe environment.

After we are unable to host championships in 2021, we will do everything we can to ensure that the 2022 championships can continue. We may need to change the way we traditionally do things, but we are confident that mushers, officials and spectators will understand and support this.

We are in regular contact with the relevant authorities in Sweden and will adjust our plans if necessary. We will also keep you informed regularly.

For now, we wish you, your family and four-legged friends a peaceful holiday season and a happy and healthy New Year.

The Östersund Skistadion has one of the largest ski areas in Sweden and a competition arena for winter sports of the highest international class. It is beautifully situated opposite Storsjön with only a 15 minute walk to the center and a 15 minute drive to the airport. The ski stadium has a biathlon arena and lighting that allows for televised evening games, as well as a permanent grandstand for 6,000 spectators.
